Nepal and Kathmandu – Nepal.com

Kathmandu is the gateway to Nepal. Being the largest city in Nepal it is a place that is full of life and is a great starting ground for any adventure one might have in mind. It is a place of wonder and historical significance that dates back almost 2000 years.

With many temples and an architectural atmosphere that is amazing, one will have plenty of opportunity to see a world unlike many. Getting around the city can be easily done by car, bike or foot. The streets are busy with people moving about. Although this is a poor country and many beggars are about, the people are friendly and very welcoming. But a word of caution: watch out for the many monkeys near by who will take anything that is not tied down.

The region has long been one of strife, but Kathmandu has been able to hold on to democracy for quite some time and travel is mostly safe for the foreign traveler. Like all travels one should be aware of their surroundings and have the necessary papers readily available.

When entering a foreign country do as the locals do. Out of respect for those whose life depends on the area, it is polite to take their traditions and way of life seriously. This is a country of great beauty and charm and should be treated as such. Also, for an unforgettable experience, make sure you visit the Royal Chitwan Park which is just 75 air miles from Kathmandu.

Kathmandu is a place that should be experienced and loved by those who take the time to get to know her charms.
