Explore the wonders of Dhulikhel

Situated at 1550m roughly 32 km east of Khatmandu is Dhulikhel. The town is old and has a strong sense of history. Many of the beautiful old buildings are well preserved and make for some good photos. The small town of Dhulikhel has become a popular place from which to view the Himalayas and to prepare for longer hikes in the Himalayan region.

As you make your way around this quaint little town, you will find several places of interest. A trip to the main square of Dhulikhel will find you at the Harisiddhi and Narayan Temples. Both are dedicated to Vishnu and are incredibly interesting to see. You will be able to see the amazing Himalayas from all over the town, but one of the best places to see sunsets is at the Kali Temple which is situated on the hilltop to the southeast of the town. Ridi Bazaar on the way to the temple also makes for a great stop.

If you want to get to the highest point of the city, Bhagwati Mandir is the place to go. It will provide you with a stunning view of the mountains and a great walk. You can reach Dhulikhel from Kathmandu by bus and there are a lot of great walking trails surrounding the town which can be used to increase fitness for longer treks. Dhulikhel is small, but is enchanting and the views will last in your memory for a lifetime.
