Discover the beauty of Nagarkot

If you want to be blown away by some of the most stunning and most memorable sunsets in the world, then head for Nagarkot. Situated 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu and rising to an elevation of 2099 meters above sea level, Nagarkot is one of the most scenic spots in the Bhaktapur region. Visitors to the surrounding areas often travel here just to get a glimpse of the Himalayas bathed in the most splendid morning sunshine imaginable.

Nagarkot is well developed to receive visitors. While many roads do not quite make it to the summit, some of the highest roads in the region will take you as far as you need to go. Buses regularly travel the route and will be able to provide you with transport. There are a number of hotels which all cater for different needs and have different prices making the view from Nagarkot a very affordable one.

So what is it that drives people in the hundreds to the top of Nagarkot? Well, as the morning light starts to peer over the horizon, it baths the spectacular Mount Everest in golden splendor. Then once the sun has risen a little higher and the sky is free of clouds, one can see Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Gauri Shankar. They can also look down on the Kathmandu Valley below and see an amazing view of the roads, dwellings and city. To the east they will see the Indrawati river Valley which treats visitors to different spectacles depending on what time of year it is. In the spring, for example, the valley becomes a kaleidoscope of beautiful flowers. They make a brilliant picture against the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. Nagarkot also boasts great picnic spots and some brilliant short trekking trails. It is the ultimate place for relaxation and natural beauty. Don’t forget to book your stay at one of the many Nagarkot hotels when planning your visit to Kathmandu.
