Dhankuta

The quaint and quiet town of Dhankuta, is located approximately fifty kilometers from the city of Dharan. It does not have the exciting attractions and thrilling activities other towns and cities might have to offer, but what it lacks in breathtaking architecture, it makes up for in magnificent wildlife and spectacular hiking trails. Nature lovers will find Dhankuta to be a natural gem and with wonderful hiking and magnificent views, the town will quickly win their hearts.

Amongst the cobble stone streets and traditional housing, visitors will find a tiny museum, which serves as the towns attractions, exhibiting tribal culture. The weekly village market is a festive affair, but if visitors prefer heading off into the hills, they can look forward to the Kanchenjunga and Makalu treks which are reachable from the town. Taking an excursion to Hile, is also recommended, where hiking enthusiasts will be able to enjoy wonderful views of the Himalayas. Various viewpoints along the routes will also be able to provide visitors with a bird’s eye view of the surrounding landscapes. And on return from a day of exploring the stunning country side, visitors can relax at the café in Dhankuta and enjoy a great cup of coffee, while reflecting on the days’ adventures.
