Description:
As the anniversary of the beginning of the Buddha's teaching, Dharma day is celebrated by Buddhists around the world. It is named in recognition of the first teaching to the Buddha's original disciples which is refered to as Dharmachakra, meaning The First Turning of the Wheel of the Dharma.
In monsoon regions, Dharma day also marks the beginning of the monsoon season, during which time the Buddha and his followers would shelter together until the end of the season, whereupon they would resume their nomadic lifestyle, carrying the teaching of Buddha to all who would listen.
