Description:

Holi originated as a festival in the spring season focusing on fertility and the harvest. It evolved over the years and now includes Hindu legends which feature in the annual celebrations.

This ancient festival was referred to in the Sanskrit drama, Ratnaval, written in the 7th century. The main legend of Holi is that of Prahalad and Holika in which the message of good triumphing over evil is emphasized.
