Three Delhi policemen, arrested in Nepal

Kathmandu, May 31 (PTI): Five Indians, including three Delhi police personnel, were arrested from eastern Nepal today for crossing the border illegally.

Sub-inspector Om Singh accompanied by two constables and two other Indian nationals were arrested from Karsiya village in Morang district near the Indian border for trying to arrest Nepali national Santosh Malakar, over a complaint lodged by a family in East Delhi, according to police.

Malakar, 22, who was working as a domestic help in the house of Ramnath Gupta at Kalyanpuri area in New Delhi, fled with his 16-year-old daughter Pooja a couple of months ago.

They are said to have got married in a Bihar Court against the will of the girl's family.

Pooja's family filed a FIR at the Kalyanpur Police Station in Delhi alleging that their minor girl was abducted by the Nepali boy and sought help from the police to find the girl and arrest the boy.

The three policemen accompanied by Pooja's brother Swatantra Gupta and his brother-in-law Santosh Gupta landed in Morang in search of the girl.

According to Nepalese Police, the Indian police raided the house of Malakar, where they found the boy's father Paras Malakar and brother Bhola.

Following this, the Nepalese police caught them and seized a 9 bore pistol, 10 rounds of bullet, an FIR document and search order given by DCP B R Birdhi of Kalyanpuri to carry out search in Bihar, police said.

"The Indian policemen violated international law first by entering the Nepalese territory carrying arms and secondly conducting a raid without our permission," they said.
