Kufri is a tiny hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22. The name Kufri is derived from the work "Kufr" meaning a lake in the local language. The highest point in the surrounding region, Kufri has a Himalayan Wild Life Zoo which hosts rare Antelopes, Felines and Birds including Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. During winter a meandering path through the potato plantations turns into a popular Ski track. Geography: Kufri is located at 31.10°N 77.25°E. It has an average elevation of 2743 metres (9000 feet). History: The region around Shimla including Kufri was once a part of the Kingdom of Nepal until the area was ceded to the British Raj as part of the Sugauli Treaty. This region remained obscure from the rest of the world until the British 'discovered' it in 1819. Places of interest: Mahasu Peak - One can hike through thick forest around Kufri to the Mahasu Peak- the highest peak in Kufri. Indira Tourist Park - The Indira Tourist Park is near the Himalayan Nature Park and provides panoramic view of the locations around. Chini Bunglow - It is the Kufri bungalow which is very famous for its statues and architecture. Places of stay: There are several hotels at Kufri where one can stay. 04/01/2012 Il tempio del Nyatapola è una pagoda a cinque piani situata al centro di Taumadi Tole nella antica città di Bhaktapur. Fu costruito dal Re Bhupatindra Malla in circa cinque mesi tra il 1701 e il 1702. Il Nyatapola è indubbiamente uno dei templi più belli di Bhaktapur, l'antica città dei devoti, ed è il più alto del Nepal, con i suoi più di trenta metri infatti svetta sul panorama della città. Per arrivare al primo piano si affronta una ripida e imponente scalinata. Ogni scalino è decorato con possenti statue di divinità protettrici e il tempio ha quattro statue di Ganesh a ogni angolo. E' dedicato a Siddha Laxmi, le dea della prosperità, una delle incarnazioni della terribile Durga, e la sua immagine chiusa all'interno della pagoda è visibile solo ai bramini. Nyatapola in newari significa "tempio delle cinque storie". Una leggenda racconta dei giorni in cui nel 1702 Bhairab aveva portato disordini e distruzione in città (il tempio a lui dedicato sta tutt'ora in Taumadi Tole). Per contrastare i suoi effetti distruttivi, il Re Bhupatendra Malla decise di far costruire un tempio più potente e più grande proprio davanti al suo e per rendere il nuovo edificio ancora più forte ordinò che delle divinità protettrici fossero poste alla base degli scalini del nuovo tempio come guardiani e guerrieri. Up to 60 candidates will be selected per batch through draw of lots from thousands of applicants. Every candidate in each batch will be subjected thorough medical examination at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute and then Indo Tibetan Border Police base hospital in New Delhi. After 3 days (4 days for batch 14 due to Independence Day holiday on August 15th) of medical tests, visa processing formalities in New Delhi, pilgrims start their 27-day journey. The 16 batches start at an interval of 6 days from end of May till end of August. There is no all inclusive package for this pilgrimage. Since payment will be collected by respective service providers along the way, if journey is cancelled in between for any reason, there will be no much loss. Since required medical tests are performed before the journey starts, chances of pilgrims getting sick on the way are very minimal (compared to other alternative routes available for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra).
