Hello all! Grace and peace, I have returned safe and sound from Nepal. After completing my training at the Lord's Boot Camp, I flew to India and onto Katmandu, Nepal. I immediately noticed how needy this nation is. Shrines to various pagan gods dotted every street. We stayed in the capital that night, and in the morning, bells began to ring. We learned that the Nepalese people in the surrounding area (and all over Nepal) would ring bells to awaken their gods as they began to worship them. Each ring broke my heart as I thought about a soul waking up in the morning, waking up their god of stone, bowing down, burning incense, and burdening himself with useless religion. We had a mission! The following day consisted of a 14-hour bus ride to a place called Urlabari. Many of the people there had never seen white people, and there were only a handful of Christians. As you probably know, my team's primary purpose was to build a church and children's home. The first several days, the weather was a huge hindrance, and I was getting discouraged. Thoughts like, "This project is failing... I can't even ask any of the people if they've heard the name of Jesus because I can't speak their language... Why am I even here?" weighed me down for hours until the Holy Spirit caused me to wonder what our team looked like to the Nepali people.
