Charming Bhaktapur [01:41]
Few shots of the beautiful city of Bhaktapur. One of the world heritage sites in Nepal, this is one of the most well preserved piece of Nepalese culture and architecture. Of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley (in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur), this is the most well preserved. It takes less than an hour to get there from the centre of Kathmandu city and its worth the effort. Not only are the temples and palaces well preserved, the houses too are well kept. Its an open museum of traditional Nepali architectural style with finely carved windows and sloped roofs. You can also see potters and Thanka artists at work.

Nepal — Heaven on Earth Nepal is the land of Mt. Everest; it is the birth place of Lord Buddha; and it is home of 25 million people living 101 different ways of life and speaking more than 92 languages. Situated between China in the north and India in the south, east and west, Nepal is a land of diverse geographical features and an opulence of cultural variety. Lord Buddha was born in this land of Mt. Everest more than 2500 years ago. The recorded history of Nepal begins with the Lichhavis who came to power in 400 AD With them the nation began to prosper in art, culture, painting, architecture and sculpture. The Mallas who succeeded the Lichhavis gave a new turn to this prosperity by transforming, the small kingdoms of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur into "open air museum of art and architecture". Nepal has often been termed the "Land of Paradise" for tourists, treks and mountaineering expeditions. The diverse natural landscape of mountains, rivers, glacial lakes, forests, Terai plains and the lush flora and fauna are major resources for the country's tourism industry. Temperate weather conditions, colorful cultures and the hospitality of the Nepali people are also major attractions for tourists.
