Trekking in Nepal - Annapurna Circuit Trek [02:21]
Annapurna Circuit trek is probably one of world's most beautiful treks. It will take you through a wonderful variety of landscape and culture, from the subtropical lower Marsyangdi valley where Gurung and Thakali settlements dominate to the northern arid Buddhist areas. Along the Marsyangdi river, on easy trails and suspension bridges, through rice terraces and forests, you will slowly gain altitude and acclimatize well. After leaving Pisang one can get stunning extremely up-close views of snowy and glaciated high peaks including Annapurnas II, III and IV. This remote area lies in a rain shadow formed by the Annapurnas and the landscape supports little in the way of forest apart from pine, juniper and scrub rhododendron. Huge glacial moraines abound, etched deeply by wind erosion into fantastic pillars. The Thorong La Pass (5415 m) is one of the highlights of this trek. Moreover the religious sanctity of Muktinath and the mules and peculiar customs of Jomsom will leave you spell bound.

From Muktinath we walked to Jomsom, a huge settlement in the Kali Gandaki valley. Jess jeeped this stretch because her knees were getting a bit ground down, and so I sent my backpack with her and walked with a daypack. Next day: off the mountains and into the lowlands in a jeep. This is the end of our trek, we transfered to Pokhara for some more adventuring. Stay tuned.

Chame to Pisang. Pisang is actually split into Lower and Upper Pisang, and due to track laziness we staid in the lower bit, even though the views from the upper bit are 37 times better. Next day we dragged ourselves up to the Pisang Peak Base Camp, for those views, and for some additional exercise. Getting high now, need to do these additional hikes, no matter how crazy it sounds.

Manang. We spent several days here. On the way Jerry's boots have further malfunctions, I decide that it is prudent to make fun of supersition and religious beliefs (I know, everyone is suprised, fuck off...), we explore the village and then I go on babbling about oxygen and acute mountain sickenss and all that shit. Hey, there is a reason they are called "outtakes".
