Wedding in Bakthapur [10:57]
Walking throughout Bakthapur´s narrow streets suddenly there was a wedding celebration: street musicians playing some particular instruments plus some known ones... lots of people surrounding the bride (beautiful) and the groom... a big red tent waiting for all of them, plenty of food and smells... The old Kingdom of Bakthapur was celebrating the life, in my opinion like thousands of years ago...

Seto Machhindranath Jatra (Chariot Festival).flv [07:07]
The shrine of Janabaha dyo or Seto (white) Machhindranath is situated in a courtyard in central Kathmandu. Besides the deity's sacred bathing ceremony in December, the chariot festival is the most important event of the year and it is spread over three days. The image of deity is put in a tall creaking chariot and dragged in stretches through the streets of Kathmandu accompanied by musical bands. The procession starts at Durbar Marg late in the afternoon and winds through the market squares of Bhotahity, Ason (day one), Indra chowk, Durbar square(day two) and Chikan Mugal to the end at Lagan, towards the southern end of the old city (day three). When the chariot stops for the night at the specified locality, devotees gather to worship the deity and light butter-lamps.

Turlung Puja in Nepal [13:02]
In the hills of the Lamjung region of Nepal is a village called Turlung. Because of a wonderful twist of fate I arrived in Turlung well ahead of my humanitarian group from Singular Humanitarian experience. We were to help paint a school later that day, but with my early arrival I explored other parts of the village and was invited to watch and photograph a puja ceremony for a man who had passed away a year before. The village lama conducts the ceremony with participation of the villagers including the sisters of the man being honored.(Sorry for some shaky footage as I lost my balance a couple of times). Enjoy!
