A soul nourishing and moment enhancing, three course vegetarian and vegan dinner - cooked by the hot topic and award winning, Jeevi the Laughing Chef; with performances by the very talented, 'Himalayan Dancing Divas'. Auf schmaler Spur durch Indien 2/2 - Die Kangra-Valley Bahn [43:16]
Das Kangra-Tal im Norden Indiens besitzt einen ganz besonderen Charme. Mit seinen versprengten Weilern vor der Kulisse der Himalaja-Berge, seinen Terrassenfeldern und Schmelzwasserbächen ist es eine märchenhafte Landschaft. Der allgegenwärtige Kontrast zwischen den schneebedeckten Gipfeln und dem Gold und Grün der farbigen Felder im Tal ist einzigartig. Mitten durch dieses Tal - Kenner sprechen vom schönsten Einschnitt am Süd-Himalaja - fährt die Kangra-Valley-Bahn auf einer 164 Kilometer langen Strecke zwischen Pathankot und Baijnath - über insgesamt 971 Brücken und durch nur zwei Tunnels. Die Vorgaben bei ihrem Bau 1929 waren eindeutig: "Optischer Einklang mit der Natur" war das oberste Ziel. Davon profitieren die Fahrgäste bis heute: Sie bekommen eine Genussreise durch eines der schönsten Täler Indiens. Der zweite Teil der dreiteiligen Dokumentationsreihe "Auf schmaler Spur durch Indien" stellt die Kangra-Valley-Bahn vor, die auf der Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes steht.
