TONGBA - Cultural drink of Kirat people |Every people who visit Nepal must drink this| [00:57]
Short educational video of my friends from Thailand drinking, enjoying Tongba in Nepal. Tongba also call Chhaang or chang is a millet-based alcoholic beverage found in the far eastern mountainous region of Nepal and the neighboring Darjeeling and Sikkim. Therefore this is warning to people that if you see a Gurkha drink tongba, it is better for you to run away as fast as you can. Tongba is usually drunk at room temperature in summer, but is often served piping hot in brass bowls or wooden mugs when the weather is cold. It is a tradition of KiratRai and KiratLimbu to brew and serve tongba to the guest. Today tongba is slowly becoming national drink of Nepal. Freshly home made, distill alcoholic drinks native to the Himalayas, drinking in moderate, tongba has health beneficial compared to western/foreign alcoholic drinks.
