World Peace Pagoda | Pokhara | 12.26.2012 [00:45]
the day after Christmas, we hiked up to the World Peace Stupa/Pagoda that overlooks all of Lakeside in Pokhara, Nepal. Our purpose was simply to simply to enthrone Jesus from the high places in Nepal! It was so awesome and people were by and large really open for conversation and prayer. There were a couple of rad healings (a crippled man's leg grew out by a lot outside the temple gates and he got up and walked, a guy's back got healed and he encountered the peace of Jesus and took a Nepali bible, and a lady's knee completely clicked back into place). People were drawn to us just sitting around singing and ministering to the heart of God, and SO MANY wanted Jesus. But as we're finding to be the norm here, Hinduism and Buddhism are cultural deals - one's family and entire social structure are swirled into those two religions. So if someone were to receive Jesus, especially as a woman (it's an intense patriarchal society here), that person would lose pretty much everything. And yet they gain EVERYTHING! So totes be praying for those we've talked to that are pondering life with Christ - that they would count the cost and say YES :)
TONGBA - Cultural drink of Kirat people |Every people who visit Nepal must drink this| [00:57]
Short educational video of my friends from Thailand drinking, enjoying Tongba in Nepal. Tongba can also be label as Gurkha drink or Gurkha beer as tongba is also favorite drink of KiratMagar, KiratGurung, KiratRai and Kirat Limbu, the four Kirat group who served in the British Army as the Gurkhas. Therefore this is warning to people that if you see a Gurkha drink tongba, it is better for you to run away as fast as you can. Tongba is usually drunk at room temperature in summer, but is often served piping hot in brass bowls or wooden mugs when the weather is cold. It is a tradition of KiratRai and KiratLimbu to brew and serve tongba to the guest. Today tongba is slowly becoming national drink of Nepal. Freshly home made, distill alcoholic drinks native to the Himalayas, drinking in moderate, tongba has health beneficial compared to western/foreign alcoholic drinks. Medicinal values: It is said to be the best remedy to ward off the severe cold of the mountains. It reputedly has many healing properties for conditions like common ...
