Nine dead in Nepal avalanche [01:02]
Nine dead in Nepal avalanche Two French climbers rest in a Kathmandu ambulance after being saved from a deadly avalanche in the country's mountainous northwest region. These photos show some of the five rescued from Mount Manaslu, the world's eighth largest mountain, in the wake of an avalanche. The icy wave of snow and ice swept through their camp on Sunday, killing at least nine, while four are still missing. Officials say some of the dead climbers are from Spain and Germany. Nepali authorities are working to find the others, despite difficult conditions at the base camp some 7000 metres above sea level. This rescuer says three French and a German national were already taken to hospital in the capital.
