Sagarmatha National Park NEPAL.mp4 [00:36]
Sagarmāthā National Park is a protected area in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal containing the southern half of Mount Everest. The park was created on July 19, 1976 and was inscribed as a Natural World Heritage Site in 1979. Sagarmāthā is a Sanskrit word, from sagar = "sky" (not to be confused with "sea/ocean") and māthā = "forehead" or "head", and is the modern Nepali name for Mount Everest. The park encompasses an area of 1148 km2 (443 sq mi) in the Solukhumbu District and ranges in elevation from 2845 m (9334 ft) at Jorsalle to 8848 m (29029 ft) at the summit of Mount Everest.[1] Barren land above 5000 m (16000 ft) comprises 69% of the park while 28% is grazing land and the remaining 3% is forested. Most of the park area is very rugged and steep, with its terrain cut by deep rivers and glaciers. Unlike other parks, this park can be divided into four climate zones because of the rising altitude. The climatic zones include a forested lower zone, a zone of alpine scrub, the upper alpine zone which includes upper limit of vegetation growth, and the Arctic zone where no plants can grow. The types of plants and animals that are found in the park depend on the altitude. The park contains the upper watershed of the Dudh Kosi river basin system. The park's visitor centre is located at the top of a hill in Namche Bazaar, also where a company of the Nepal Army is stationed for protecting the park. The park's southern entrance is a few hundred metres north of Monzo at 2835 m (9301 ...

World Travel : Trip 090 : Nepal, Island Peak Trek : Take Off from very short runway at Lukla Airport [02:37]
Video/Movie clip taken on a 24 trekking day trip to the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal, Southern Asia, in April 2010. Tenzing-Hillary Airport also known as Lukla Airport, is a small airport in the town of Lukla in Khumbu, Solukhumbu district, Sagarmatha zone, eastern Nepal. A program entitled Most Extreme Airports broadcast on The History Channel in 2010, rated the airport as the most dangerous airport in the World. Here yuo can see my view of the Take Off from just behind the Cockpit of the Aircraft. I'm not sure if it was actually 'dangerous' ... but it was certainly rather exhilarating!!

Fruitboy and Sierra Visit Nepal [37:04]
Here is a slideshow and traditional Nepali folk music for a trip to the Everest region of Nepal in 2005. I am uploading this to celebrate my decision to return to the Himalaya in fall 2012, for I seek a similar life shift for the better like the events I manifested in 2005 2006.
