We Are One [03:00]
Our planet comprises many countries, ethnic groups, religions, and cultures, creating a vast number of differences amongst its inhabitants. As students currently working in three very different countries of the world - Ghana, Nepal, and Vietnam - we decided to conduct a social experiment of our own. We learned that there is more to our similarities than meets the eye. As such, we believe it's about time we celebrate these similarities and unite in our diversity.

World Peace Pagoda | Pokhara | 12.26.2012 [00:45]
the day after Christmas, we hiked up to the World Peace Stupa/Pagoda that overlooks all of Lakeside in Pokhara, Nepal. Our purpose was simply to simply to enthrone Jesus from the high places in Nepal! It was so awesome and people were by and large really open for conversation and prayer. There were a couple of rad healings (a crippled man's leg grew out by a lot outside the temple gates and he got up and walked, a guy's back got healed and he encountered the peace of Jesus and took a Nepali bible, and a lady's knee completely clicked back into place). People were drawn to us just sitting around singing and ministering to the heart of God, and SO MANY wanted Jesus. But as we're finding to be the norm here, Hinduism and Buddhism are cultural deals - one's family and entire social structure are swirled into those two religions. So if someone were to receive Jesus, especially as a woman (it's an intense patriarchal society here), that person would lose pretty much everything. And yet they gain EVERYTHING! So totes be praying for those we've talked to that are pondering life with Christ - that they would count the cost and say YES :)

During this week, we barely slept because night was totally dedicated to practice (prayer, dancing, singing, etc.). Day time, villagers came for blessings and guidance. It is at that time, that I started to understand what "seeing" meant after a 2 years stay in Nepal. Exhaustion did not allow for any more rational-linear thinking but because of the sacred set and setting, bursts of spiritual understanding ("right brain w-holy systemic glimpses") could naturally come through. It is a well known fact that Hinduism and Buddhism are the two major religions of Nepal, each having it's own rules and rituals. However, like most festivals of Nepal, both Hindus and Buddhist unite to celebrate the festival of Indra Jatra. This festival is celebrated by both Hindus and Buddhists with great enthusiasm. It is also believed that Indra Jatra is a festival of classical dances. It is on this very day when one is able to observe numerous varieties of traditional dances. The festival is named after Lord Indra who is known as the god of rain and also as the king of heaven.
