Death in Pashupatinath - Sacred Hindu Temple in Kathmandu [03:07]
Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples of Lord Shiva in the world, located on the banks of the Bagmati River in the eastern part of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The temple served as the seat of the national deity, Lord Pashupatinath, Nepal is a secular country . The temple is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The temple is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Holy Abodes of Shiva on the continent). Hindus alone are allowed to enter the temple premises. Non-Hindu visitors are allowed to have a look at the temple from the other bank of Bagmati river, which include benches for watching deaths and burning on pyres. Also, 15 votive shrines are across the river called the Pandra Shivalaya, which were built to enshrine lingas in memory of deceased persons between 1859 and 1869. It is regarded as the most sacred among the temples of Lord Shiva (Pashupati).

Pashupatinath Temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River in the eastern part of Kathmandu, Nepal. Pashupatinath Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. It is not known for certain when Pashupatinath Temple was founded. But according to Nepal Mahatmaya and Himvatkhanda,the deity here gained great fame there as Pashupati, the Lord of the Animals. Pashupatinath Temple's existence dates back to 400 AD The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga or holy symbol of Lord Shiva. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world come to pay homage to this temple, that is also known as 'The Temple of Living Beings'

This is sustainable! 30 days walk away from the nearest road, 5 days walk away from the nearest runway, in the poorest and most remote part of Nepal on the pilgrimage path to Mt Kailas in Tibet, one of the most remote parts of the Hymalaya and because China it is boxed in by the impasse of the Chinese boarder, one of the most remote places on the planet. On our Pilgrimage to Mt. Kailas, the most sacred mountain of the Hindus and Mahayana Tibetan Buddhists, we took the long road a couple of valleys off the beaten track, crossing passes a good deal higher than Mt. Blanc in order to get to the last valley allong the edge of the Tibetan Plateux and the Chinese Boarder. This Valley was home to a Tibetan people that practices Tibetan Buddhism, spoke Tibetan, adhered to all aspects of Tibetan Culture but they fell inside the Nepalese Boarder. I can't describe the majesty of the immeasurably vast mountains that this peacefull valley town was nestled in. The river that had torn away a good cunk of the town flows off the back of a mountain which overlooks Lake Mansrova, most holy of all Lakes in the Hymalaya. These beautiful people would be shot if they were found to be crossing over into Tibet, by Chinese guards. likewise, so would any Tibetans trying to escape the Chinese rule. The city is located about 400 km south-east of Kathmandu valley, 20 km from the Indian border at 26° 42' 44" N, 085° 55' 18" E Janakpurdham has a major tourists industry due to its significance in the Hindu religion.
