Recital at Tilicho Lake (4910m altitude) of "Tilicho Lake" by David Whyte [01:31]
Marcus Sorensen recites the poem "Tilicho Lake" by David Whyte in front of that same lake at 4910m altitude in Nepal. It is the world's highest lake, and frozen over for most of the year. It took 8 days' trekking to reach it with local sherpas. It is vast, at over 4km in length, and described by adventurer Maurice Herzog as "The Great Ice Lake", when he passed it on his way to do the first 8000m+ mountain climb in history at the nearby Annapurna Peak. Marcus was inspired to visit it to "see the true shape of [his] own face". With gratitude to Daphne Bouma-Jansen for the idea.

Charming Bhaktapur [01:41]
Few shots of the beautiful city of Bhaktapur. One of the world heritage sites in Nepal, this is one of the most well preserved piece of Nepalese culture and architecture. Of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley (in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur), this is the most well preserved. It takes less than an hour to get there from the centre of Kathmandu city and its worth the effort. Not only are the temples and palaces well preserved, the houses too are well kept. Its an open museum of traditional Nepali architectural style with finely carved windows and sloped roofs. You can also see potters and Thanka artists at work.

Gateway to Everest, the world's highest mountain and many other Himalayas was rates featured in a program titled Most Extreme Airports broadcasted in The History Channel in 2010. The airport is where you start your once in a life time trek to Everest Base Camp or many more climbs to follow. The airport is located at an elevation of 9100 feet (2800m) with a single runway of 1500 feet (460m) with a gradient of 12%. The airport's paved asphalt runway is only accessible to helicopters and small, fixed-wing-takeoff-and-landing aircrafts.
