A small plane owned by a private company crashed in northwest Nepal on Monday, killing 15 people including 13 Indians. The Dornier aircraft owned by private Agni Air company was carrying 18 passengers and a crew of three on a flight from the resort town of Pokhara to Jomsom when it crashed while landing at the mountain airstrip. Among those killed are 13 Indians and two Nepalis. Six survivors had been taken to a hospital in Pokhara and the condition of at least one of them is critical. In September last year, 19 people returning after viewing Mount Everest were killed when their plane crashed in bad weather near Kathmandu. It was not immediately clear what caused crash. Nepal is home to eight of the world's 14 highest mountain peaks, including Mount Everest. Tens of thousands of hikers and foreign tourists go to Mount Everest and other trekking routes to see the lofty Himalayan peaks every year. Tourism, a key source of earning for impoverished Nepal, accounts for nearly four percent of the gross domestic product and employs tens of thousands of people. The bodies of 13 Indian pilgrims who died in a plane crash in northern Nepal will be handed over to their relatives on Tuesday after the process of postmortem is completed. The bodies were airlifted to Kathmandu on ...

Mountainmen: from Prairies to Himalayas I do not own or take credit for the song "the Voiceless" by And So I Watched You From Afar. Angling The Himalayan Golden Mahaseer [04:00]
A GAURAVMAN SHERCHAN FILM / WWW.GAURAVMAN.COM Mahseer in local words is a combination of two words, mah (big) and seer (head) as it is known to be among the toughest among fresh water sport fish that courageously ascends the tough Himalayan rivers and streams. The Golden Mahseer was immortalized by Jim Corbett, the hunter-turned-conservationist, in his classic work 'Man Eaters of Kumaon'. In the chapter titled 'The Fish of My Dreams', Corbett describes watching a shoal of Mahseer in a deep pool and casting his lure in front of the biggest fish. The specimen he landed weighed a whopping 22 kg probably around five feet long. Sadly, those days are long gone. The angling catch and release holiday takes you to the 40km Babai river in Western Nepal within the Bardia National Park. The wild and water life in the area has been preciously guarded by the Government of Nepal allowing you a guaranteed catch of the precious Golden Mahseer over a four day rafting adventure amidst the deep jungles as you watch wild elephants, deer's, a wide variety of birds and the river crocodiles at such proximities that is bound to take your breath away. Camping with the local anglers and guides sharing stories from the Himalayan waters and your fishing experiences in other challenging waters by the camp fire as wild animals lurk very close by is a memorable experience.

Charming Bhaktapur [01:41]
Few shots of the beautiful city of Bhaktapur. One of the world heritage sites in Nepal, this is one of the most well preserved piece of Nepalese culture and architecture. Of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley (in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur), this is the most well preserved. It takes less than an hour to get there from the centre of Kathmandu city and its worth the effort. Not only are the temples and palaces well preserved, the houses too are well kept. Its an open museum of traditional Nepali architectural style with finely carved windows and sloped roofs. You can also see potters and Thanka artists at work.
