Week 4 & 5 - It's raining a little bit... [07:24]
Understatement of the century, courtesy of Miss Megan Malley (I love a good alliteration). Rain, rain, go away, at least long enough to let up traffic a little bit. We're used to the extended commute and varying weather by now, but it's still a sight to see. Brief video rundown: Spontaneous waterfall/rivers, Incestuous Royalty, "Holy Beer" festivals, power outage forts, an Irish pub, french fries, "4th" of July party, fake money, and Megan being a child.

Nepal [02:25]
Exhausted from my arrival in Asia, I'm spending a big part of my first day here, sleeping. I also go for a little walk to explore the district of Thamel. Once more, I'm impressed by the chaotic and deafening traffic in this labyrinth of dusty streets. Among taxis, buses and rickshaws, people are making their way through. Throughout these narrow streets, they kiss and decorate with flowers statues of deities, under which mangy dogs, sacred cows and domestic roosters are lounging around. The smell of incense covers that of fumes. Above my head, an impressive amount of electric cables gets tangled up with the numerous signs bound for tourists. I fall in a hole. I smell poop. I'm going to bed. I get to know the family that has the inn a little better. The atmosphere here is convivial. Today, it's Shivaratri, a national holiday in honour of goddess Shiva. I'm entitled to a "tika", the pigment dot in the middle of the forehead. I personally find it nice and funny. If the lady paints it on me, is to bring me good luck, protection. Altogether, we're going to attend various celebrations, through temples in Durban Square. There's color everywhere, stamped by incense smoke, detailed sculptures, sometimes gigantic, scattered in every nook and cranny, trees embracing the temples on which they grow, women allegories of beauty, of gold, of pigments, guys who follow you for an hour to sell a flute... Yes, I had in mind beautiful images of Nepal. No, I was far from imagining how much ...
