Bhaktapur - Nepal's Medieval Capital in Kathmandu Valley [06:12]
The medieval city of Bhaktapur, also known as Khwopa and as the City of Devotees, is one of three former capital cities in the Kathmandu Valley. It is an hour drive from downtown Kathmandu and a living gem of Hindu temples, pagodas, palaces and ancient monuments, some dating back to the 16th century. Its gem is its Durbar Square—a World Heritage site listed by the UNESCO. Strewn with unique palaces, temples and monasteries best admired for their exquisite artworks in wood, metal and stone, the palatial enclave has bewitched pilgrims and travelers for centuries. It's a beautiful historic city, but the charm to me was its wonderful people - captured at work, at play and at rest. Hope you like my impressions.
