Annapurna Sanctuary Trek in Nepal, Mountains, Travel

Through the dense forests of rhododendron, surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, Sanctuary Valley forms the bases from which climbers of different levels can take full advantage of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Treks vary from 13 days to 24, but can also be customized to personal tastes; of course quantity does affect availability and should be confirmed when making a decision through a chosen tour group. The trek grade is a level III and IV and should be taken advantage of during the months of October through to May.

Kathmandu is the mandated starting point where trekkers will spend day two adjusting to the variety of cultures, the local people as well as general sight seeing of Kathmandu Square, Boudhanath, Swoyambhunath and Pasupatinath. Day three requires a short flight to Pokhara where you will be driven to Phedi. From here you will begin your full trek with a 6/7 hour trail to Tolkha. Day four takes you to the local village of Chhomrong and day five and six will see you visiting Dovan and Deurali at 3230 meters. Day seven takes you to both Machhapuchre and Fishtail Base Camp surrounded by enormous glaciers with the magnificent view of the Annapurna mountain range.

Day eight will see you reaching Annapurna Base Camp, by now all should be well acclimatized before making descent down to Bamboo on day nine. Day ten will see you follow the natural valley it leads you to Chhumrung surrounded by tranquil views of serene and unlikely bamboo forests. Day eleven and twelve takes you towards Tada Pani and Gorepani. However day thirteen is a welcomed break. Once you pass Poonhil towards Tatopani where you can rest alongside steaming hot natural springs. Day fourteen through to day eighteen will take you through: Ghasa, Marpha, Kagbeni, Muktinath and Jomsom at 2750 metres. On day nineteen a short flight is needed to Pokhara where you can take time off for about half a day sightseeing the main attractions within Pokhara City Centre. The trek draws to an end on day twenty as you again return to Kathmandu on a short flight. Day twenty one of the trek allows you time to rest or if you have the energy to tour the cities of Bhaktapur and Patan. Finally day twenty-two draws the extraordinary trek to a close, tired, but with new found memories to hold close as you depart on your flight back home.
