A young Tibetan monk today dramatically set himself on fire in a restaurant in Kathmandu, marking the 100th self-immolation bid in a wave of protests against Chinese rule in Tibet since 2009. The Tibetan exile in his early twenties doused himself in petrol in a restaurant near Bouddhanath Stupe of Kathmandu and set himself on fire, police said. Policemen and a tourist who were sitting nearby helped to rescue the boy from putting off the fire, according to a police officer at the Bouddhanath Police Station. The Tibetan's self-immolation bid marked the 100th such incident in a wave of protests against Chinese rule since 2009.
