We got up at 5 and left at 5.30am. It was pich black, Minus 20 and i felt like parts of me were going to drop off (especially with my cheapy china shoes and wearing fisherman trousers). We left in the dark nut there was a full moon so the light was good. We climbed hard for an hour 500m up to the High camp. I lead the way with Guy on my shoulder, Liz a bit back and to be fair to James he was right behind Liz - he put in a super human effort for him. We got up and got a tea at the high camp. We had passed a lot of Israeli's that left over an hour before us so we were all in good shape. We then pushed on and made it up to the pass 3 hours later. We left so early to avoid the wind but it was not too bad. It was hard at the top though because as well as the altitude we were all walking through snow and it is continuous and you have no idea how long it will take you to get to the top. The scenary is stunning up here and with the sun shining it gets more bareable. Finally we saw a congregation of people and we were at the pass. James and i were running up to it celebrating, both slipped on ice and clung hold of eachother to stay up - it was comical to everyone around except us at the time. liz was messing around at the top taking a stupid amount of photos while we are all suffering from the altitde. We got a few snaps and i pretty much made her decend. We had climbed 1,000m today already and it is only 10am, now we have to go down 2,000m! The way down saw james and Guy literally running. My knee was hurting so i had to take it slow. We walked for 3 hours down fast untill we got to our luinch stop. My knees were very greatful to stop. We had a Dhal Bhat and then continued on the final 2 hours to Muktinanth. The decent was harder than the ascent for me but it was all worth it to feel the preasure release off your head. The final obsticle was an icy path preceriously positioned on the edge of a mountain. I saw james and Guy up ahead sliding all over the place. Lots of people almost went over. I decided to climb. I was runing through the snow above them leaving foot and leg prints (the snow was up to my waste) but i got over with the minium of fuss - it was a really good short cut. We stayed at the Bob arly cafe in Muktinath which was tthe nicest place we had seen at 1st glance, although it was very expensive and had the stupidest shower i have ever seen. There was a cold shower and a hot hose. I positioned them to the same point but beacuse the cold was a sprinkle and the hot a jet you burn yourself and freeze at the same time. I ended up having to catch the water in my numb hands and throw it on me once mixed - it was a pain! We ate away fronm the GH and they had a bit of a go at us but it is their own fault for having rediculously priced meals. Especially when there are cheap momo places fown the same street! I also had a chowmin Breakfast in the morning after my sound sleep and then it was time to move on AGAIN!"
