Vimal Thapa – Bird Watching Expert of Nepal

Vimal Thapa has more than a decade of experience in adventure and nature tourism in Nepal. He started as a nature guide/naturalist in Chitwan national park while working as a trek leader, he got a chance to explore many birds and wildlife in different parts of the country from lowland to highland. Later on bird watching became his passion. In the past, he has been involved, (till Dec 2011) in Nepal's only and authentic bird conservation organization (BCN) as an executive board member. Now, he is in Nepal Rare Bird Committee, as a life member, under the executive board of Bird Conservation Nepal. He is also the founder member of one of the bird forums, "Friends of Bird", from where he initiated and recently published an educative book, "Garden Birds of Nepal". He has been promoting bird watching and nature tourism and has led many nature and bird trips in Nepal. In weekends, whenever not held up with other commitments, he voluntarily guides students in Kathmandu valley for bird watching. The founder & director of Himalaya, an organization that promotes nature and bird tourism in line with community ecotourism in Myagdi district that lies in Annapurna and Dhaulagiri area of west Nepal; Vimal Thapa also operates commercial trekking tours abiding by the norms and ethics of responsible tourism.
