Tattoo Art in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is once again the host city for the International Nepal Tattoo Convention – a gathering of more than seventy tattoo artists from around the world who will compete under a number of categories to be judged Best of the Day and Best of the Show. Taking place on 26-28 April 2013, this will be the third edition of the International Nepal Tattoo Convention, and based on the success of previous events, organizers are confident the event will be even better than before.

Day one of the convention will see tattoo artists compete in the categories of Small Tattoo B/W and Small Tattoo Color, with day two featuring Leg and Arm Piece and Sleeve in both B/W and Color. Day three has tattoo artists showing their skill over a prolonged period as they complete Front and Back Full and Piece in B/W and in Color. Each day judges will choose a tattoo considered to be the Best of the Day, and on the third day there will be Best of the Day and Best of the Show.

In addition to watching tattoo artists at work, the convention will have a program of cultural events, seminars, competitions and parties, giving artists and tattoo fans the unique opportunity of mingling and sharing their experiences of this ancient form of body art. World famous tattoo artist and musician Jondix from Spain will be hosting daily workshops, and this year’s event will include body modification expert Quentin Inglis of Kalima Emporium in the UK, who also specializes in scarification and branding.

Visitors planning on getting a tattoo at the convention can look forward to being inked by some of the world’s best artists at the world’s highest tattoo festival. Organizers of the International Nepal Tattoo Convention request that visitors contact tattoo artists directly to arrange for tattoos. Bear in mind that many who have had ill-chosen tattoos removed, stress the importance of being 100% sure before getting inked.
